How important is your life, to your family?

It’s a gorgeous day for fishing, but everyone is too busy to join you. It’s been a stressful day, and being out in the water is the only thing that will make you happy. You need some alone time. No matter what the reason is to be out in the water by yourself, accidents do happen. Whether you’re untangling something, trying to bring up a good size catch, or have an unexpected health issue, there should be an emergency plan. The Autotether specifically had this in mind when they developed the award winning wireless lanyard.

The cell phone, ipad, life saver, life jacket, old unattached lanyard, will not help when you fall out while the motor is running. Who knows where your boat is going or when it’s going to stop. The U.S. Coast Guard will probably find your boat if properly equipped but will they find you? What will your family do, if you don’t show up for dinner? We’re sure that you’ve thought about this a couple of times.

At Autotether, we urge you to re-evaluate your emergency plans. Our award winning wireless technology ensures that when you do fall off the boat, that the boat will automatically stop and sound an alarm. This small clip has a wireless sensor which triggers the kill switch when submerged in water. It’s very affordable, uncomplicated, easy to install, and requires no tools.

BUI - Could the use of an automatic engine cut-off switch impact passenger fatality results?

According to the U.S. Coast Guard, 17% of all recreational boating fatalities involved the use of alcohol. Boaters who are under the influence, will have impaired judgment, balance, vision and reaction time. Fatigue caused by the sun, wind, boat movement, when using alcohol will make the reaction time decline even faster. Not only is the operator at risk, but the passengers, other boaters and the innocent bystanders in the vicinity.

As a boat operator, your passengers are allowed to drink on board. Taking care of them while they are under the influence could be stressful. Without you knowing, anyone of them could fall out of the boat without their life vests, and at anytime. Will you know where to locate them if the boat doesn’t stop?

With the Autotether, you could avoid the stress and potentially even save their life. Make it mandatory to where the unrestrictive small clip (wireless sensor) that sounds an alarm and triggers the kill switch when submerged in water. It’s very affordable, uncomplicated, easy to install, and requires no tools.

Wear it and forget about it.

Since you’ve been boating, how many times have you worn your life vest or lanyard? For whatever reason, boaters tend to stash away the bulky vests and pass on the restrictive lanyard. Instead of completely ignoring the safety rules by not wearing them, there is an alternative to saving your life. The Autotether is a revolutionary device that will not restrict your movement if you decide to forgo the vest and/or the lanyard. You can now simply clip a small, wireless sensor to your clothes. It will not only trigger the kill switch, but it will also sound an alarm, giving you enough time to react if you or someone has fallen off. Most importantly, no more run away boats that could endanger swimmers and other boaters.

According to the U.S. Coast Guard, many accidents, fatalities and property damages result in having fallen over board and/or operators loss of control. New rules and regulations are looked at every year to help prevent these awful incidences from recurring. Boaters will have to become more aware of safety issues and the hazards of operating on the water. Currently, the U.S. Coast Guard is considering the requirement of installing and the use of engine cut-off switches for boats less than 26 feet.

New wireless boating technology, like the Autotether, should seriously be considered when it comes to prevention. There should be no more excuses when if comes to the safety of yourself, your family, and passengers. Just like wearing a helmet when biking and skiing, and the use of a seat belt when driving, unrealized hazards can be avoided.

Autotether Offers Holiday Rebate

Give the Gift of safety This Holiday Season

Chester, Ct., December 5, 2011 – Safety-conscious boaters have more to celebrate this holiday season thanks to wireless safety device manufacturer Autotether. The company is offering a $20 rebate to customers purchasing its wireless kill switch or Screamer wireless alarm products before December 31, 2011, making Autotether the perfect holiday gift for boaters.

Safety Lanyards: Cutting the Cord

Man overboard incidents represent the leading cause of injury and death among boaters – incidents entirely avoidable with an engine kill switch. Since traditional systems tend to restrict movement and are prone to accidental engine shut-off, however, many boaters choose not to connect them. By contrast, Autotether’s radio frequency (RF) sensors connect wirelessly to any kill switch, sounding an alarm and shutting down engine operation within 1 ½ seconds of a pilot or passenger falling into the water. Passenger sensors may also be used to shut down the engine in the event of a runaway boat.

Autotether is simple to install aboard any boat, and requires no drilling or cutting. The receiver attaches to the boat’s dash using dual lock strips, and clips directly to the boat’s factory-installed kill switch. The receiver has a battery life of 150 hours and lights a low-charge indicator when its AAA-batteries need replacing. Since it’s easy to install, Autotether is also transferrable between boats and is the perfect safety device to take on board with friends who don’t have the system.
